Government and Military Service Verification:
Cases of military frauds and wannabes have become almost epidemic - and it is not limited to the USA; though it has reached such proportions in the USA that existing laws are being more frequently enforced, and many new laws have been passed. This has often resulted in criminal charges and either fines or prison terms - frequently both. Passing and enforcement of similar laws in other countries is also gaining momentum.
What can we do?
Our research service is designed not only to expose military frauds, but also to provide research in many other areas. Our research specialist is Gerard (Jerry) Keenan (see full bio under "Terrorism News" - "About Jerry"), a retired US Navy Petty Officer and former security assistant to the Commander US Naval Forces Europe in London. Jerry has been providing military research to private investigators, attorneys, private security companies, genealogists, private citizens, government agencies, documentary film companies, writers, journalists, historians, TV and radio news and others for many years. During this time he has exposed scores of frauds - including numerous US and UK Special Forces frauds and fraudulent POW claims (working closely with the non-profit POW Network).
The value of obtaining accurate military information on a person can not be overstated and should be an integral part of any pre-employment background check - especially for sensitive positions and those requiring special skills.
Our current capabilities include research in the US, UK, Canadian, Australian and New Zealand militaries and assistance with Russia/Soviet military and the French Foreign Legion.
It must be emphasized that no databases exist to obtain truly accurate information of this type. It can only be obtained from the paper files of many sources in various countries. In addition, the prevailing privacy laws in each country can severely limit the type of information that will be released - or even deny it all together. This means there are often long delays in getting information, and sometimes no information will be released at all.
While research on individuals comprises the bulk of our service, it is but one part of the whole. Other areas in which Jerry has provided research are histories of ships, units, squadrons, shore facilities and bases, campaigns, battles, and more.
Jerry has many years of experience in the history field which prompted his assignment as the official base historian of the US Naval Communications Station Londonderry Northern Ireland in 1975 by the last Commanding Officer of that base prior to decommissioning. This history is on file at the National Archives. He is also currently serving as the official historian of the veteran's reunion organization of that base.
